Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Mavo (“Mavo,” “we,” “us”), the household coordination service at mavolife.com and its apps. By creating an account or using Mavo, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Mavo.
Who can use Mavo
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Mavo account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you add and for keeping your account secure. When you create a family space and invite others, you are responsible for inviting only the people who should have access to that household’s information.
Your account
You sign in with an email address and a password, a magic link, or a connected sign-in provider you choose. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your credentials safe, don’t approve sign-in links you didn’t request, and email hello@mavo.life right away if you suspect someone else has access. If you give us an email address you don’t control, we may not be able to recover the account for you.
Your family space and the people in it
Mavo is built for more than one person. Information in a family space — calendars, lists, meals, routines, notes, files, and conversations with Mavo AI — is available to the members of that space according to their role. You decide who to invite and you can remove members at any time. Invite only people who should see that household’s information, and only add information about other people, including children in your care, that you have the right to share.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Add content you don’t have the legal right to share, including information about people who haven’t agreed to be part of your family space.
- Upload or share content that is illegal under U.S. federal law, the laws of Texas, or the laws where you live; child sexual abuse material; non-consensual intimate imagery; or content created to harass or threaten an identifiable person. We may preserve evidence and report violations of this clause to the appropriate authorities.
- Attempt to access another person’s account, another family space’s information, or any non-public part of the service; scrape or systematically extract data beyond what Mavo provides to you; or probe, disrupt, or overload the service.
- Use Mavo to send unsolicited or bulk messages, or to relay outbound mail.
- Resell, sublicense, or share access to Mavo without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy. Where a violation isn’t harmful to others, we’ll give you a reasonable chance to export your data first.
Your content stays yours
You own what you put into Mavo. You grant us the limited license we need to run the service: to store, back up, display, and process your content so we can organize your household, power Mavo AI and search, send the notifications you ask for, and serve your information back to you and the members of your family space. That license ends when you delete the content or your account. We don’t sell your information, we don’t show you ads, and we don’t use your family’s content to train our own AI models.
Mavo AI and automated features
Mavo AI helps you capture and organize household life. It can turn notes, emails, and screenshots into plan items; add and update calendar events and lists; send notifications; search the web and read pages; check the weather; and schedule background checks — for example, watching for weather or a cancellation before an event. To do this, it may process the files you attach in an isolated computing environment.
Changes Mavo AI makes to your household generally require your approval, except for actions you’ve pre-authorized, such as delivering a notification you set up. Background checks you schedule may run automatically, without anyone present, and may act within the permissions you’ve granted.
Mavo AI is produced by machine and can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. It is not a substitute for professional advice. Don’t rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions, and verify anything time-sensitive — an appointment, a deadline, a pickup — against the original source.
Forwarding email and importing content
You can forward emails, upload files, paste text, and share links into Mavo, and we’ll process them to create and update plan items. Only forward or upload content you have the right to share. Forwarded email and uploads may contain information about other people; you are responsible for that content.
Connected tools
On some plans you can connect Mavo to other tools using an API key, a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connection, or webhooks. You are responsible for keeping your keys secret and for what any tool you connect does with your household information. Review-first defaults apply, but you control what you grant access to.
Plans, payment, and renewals
Mavo offers a free tier and paid plans. Current plans and pricing are shown on our pricing page at signup. Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis — monthly or yearly, as you choose — and renew automatically until you cancel. Payments are handled by our payment processor. Prices may change, and we’ll give notice before a change affects your next renewal. You are responsible for any applicable taxes.
Refunds, cancellation, and deletion
You can cancel anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period, and you keep your paid features until then. We don’t generally refund partial periods, but we’ll consider reasonable requests and will provide refunds where the law requires them. The free tier remains available to you.
You can export your household data at any time, and you can delete individual items, leave a family space, or delete your account from inside Mavo. When you delete your account, we remove the information we hold for you within 30 days; backups age out on their own retention schedule. Content you added to a shared family space may remain visible to other members of that space after you leave.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything you can’t afford to lose. Mavo is one place your household plan lives — it shouldn’t be the only place for the documents that matter most.
Service availability
We work hard to keep Mavo running, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may take the service down for maintenance or to respond to incidents, and we rely on providers that can have outages of their own. We’ll give notice when we can.
Changes to the service
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. If we materially reduce a paid feature you depend on, we’ll let you know and offer a prorated refund of the remaining paid term.
Suspension and termination by us
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create a safety or security risk. Where possible, we’ll give you a chance to fix the problem and to export your data first.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mavo disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that Mavo AI output will be accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mavo and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for all claims relating to these terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Mavo in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow these exclusions or limitations. To the extent they apply to you, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold Mavo harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms or any law, or your infringement of a third party’s rights — including information you add about other people.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief to protect intellectual property. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll post the revised version here with a new “Last updated” date, and we’ll email registered users when changes are material. Continued use of the service after a material change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. If you don’t agree, your remedy is to stop using Mavo and ask us to delete your account.
